I am not what would be considered the normal teacher in this day and age. I do not believe in using technology for everything - it is a tool, that is it, and I don't believe in making it easy for the students. I like pushing my students to push themselves, and come to the realization of everything they are capable of. This will help them in the adult world. Bosses mostly care about results, efficiency and effort - short cuts and the easy way out does not fly with the boss.
Most of my teaching career has been in special education. This is a field where people feel sorry for the students because they are struggling and so they give the students the tools that will make it easier, instead of helping them learn how to learn in their own special way. In the last few years it has only become worse, with all of the new software programs. I am not knocking technology completely because for some people it means the world of difference in quality of life. My problem is when technology is used before all other resources have been used up.
You will find as you go through this site, that the products that I recommend the most are the ones that help the students become the best they can be, by practice, practice, and going back to the basics. I do have several web sites that make learning those basics more fun, but mostly I am one of those back to the basic teachers.
